The electricity in the power grid is AC, while the electricity in the power battery is DC. Charging is to convert the AC in the power grid into DC and charge it into the power battery of the new energy vehicle.
"Slow charging" refers to AC slow charging, which uses an AC charging pile installed outside the electric vehicle and connected to the AC power grid. During use, the AC power of the power grid is input into the slow charging port of the electric vehicle. The AC charging pile only provides power output and does not directly charge the battery of the electric vehicle. It needs to be connected to the on-board charging machine inside the car, and the AC power is converted into DC power through the on-board charging machine, and then input into the battery to complete the charging. It takes 6 to 8 hours for ordinary models to fully charge the battery.
"Fast charging" refers to DC fast charging, which generally refers to high-power DC charging, using a DC charging pile. The DC charging pile is installed outside the electric vehicle and is also connected to the AC power grid. However, unlike slow charging, it first converts the AC power of the power grid into DC power inside the pile, and then transmits the DC power to the fast charging port of the electric vehicle. The power directly enters the vehicle power battery and can be charged to 80% in 1 hour or even less.
Slow charging has lower power and longer charging time, which is suitable for charging when the car stops for a long time; fast charging has higher power and shorter charging time, which is suitable for temporary emergency charging.
To be precise, frequent fast charging will cause damage to the battery compared to slow charging. Just like eating, slow charging is "chewing slowly". Although the charging speed is slow and takes a long time, it can reduce false electricity and extend the battery life; fast charging is "wolfing". The charging time is fast and takes a short time, but it is easy to generate false electricity and affect the battery life.
Therefore, if the charging conditions are convenient, it is recommended to use AC slow charging as the main charging method and DC fast charging as a supplementary charging method as much as possible, and use it reasonably.
